gallows of art

Look what I've found today: the gallows of art! Someone climbed up this old oak to nail a tiny little gallow onto the trunk. It's painted yellow so that everyone who has got an eye for the beauty of nature (and the sky above) will see it. So what's the aim of this tiny little gallow? If you like me to comment on this: I don't know!

twin art

What you do see here, is not a piece of this years documenta 12 (the world's most important exhibition of contemporary art taking place at Kassel) - no it's a work of art of the year 1977, made for the documenta 6, which I don't quite know if it was the world's most important exhibition of contemporary art back in that year - but it took definitively place at Kassel. Now to the title of this post: it's called twin art because of the age of both, the vertical earth kilometer and the person wearing these nice checked shoes. For the bargain price of 750,000 DM (€ 383,468) Mr. Walter de Maria had pluged a hole in the middle of the square with one kilometer of brass. And nobody visiting this year's documenta 12 and it's yesterday mentioned poppy seed field has an eye for the art of the year 1977 (it's under the big top).

poppy seed cake

So I like poppy seed cake! That doesn't mean that I'm going to harvest these plants to make some cake - albeit this would be an act of revolution and revolution is the theme of this work of art at the documenta 12 (the world's most important exhibition of contemporary art). Maybe the cake would be art as soon as he would be cool enough to eat or even the ingredients would be art when they were put together with the poppy seed harvested out of a piece of art. underpass

Today I've found new pieces of art and I liked the idea! As you already know, there's art everywhere in the city where the documenta 12 takes place at the moment. As you can see, at least one artist has decorated an underpass (Click here to find out where) with a lot of art. Not everything on the wall looked like art - some things were even less decorative than the tiles were with all the posters on it before being decorated and given the status of a museum.

tickets for free

What you see here, are our tickets for the worlds most important exhibition of contemporary art - the documenta 12 - hanging on our fridge, in the kitchen of our flat in Kassel.

As you can see, they fit perfectly with my collection of horned animal magnets because of the green colour. For me, I do really like green and we appreciate the tickets for being for nothing - free of charge for us thanks to the Deutscher Sparkassen und Giroverband Berlin.

Look what I've found today on my way through the town where the world's most important exhibition of contemporary art takes place: a poster at Kassel! Yes it is an advertisement for the documenta IIIIIIIIIIII and it really looks a bit like the puddle in front of it. Maybe you can only see colours - but then you're not the one to whom the placard is addressed and you shouldn't come and visit the documenta 12. Take a really really long look - you'll see people and faces on the picture. Don't hesitate to look for them in the puddle of rain fallen only minutes before the picture was taken. Do you see any angels? If yes - talk to your therapist... If not - it's art...

green swan

And now, there is a green swan (click here to find out where it is). What does a green swan swimming on the lake want to say to me? Dear Mr. or Mrs. Artist, what does the green swan stand for? I really can't imagine anything! Mr. Roger documeta 12 can you tell us what this is about?

rat race

This is an art rat (yes it's on the photo - look right at the middle), because this rat is right here at Kassel and everything can be art here because it's documenta time.

The project of an unknown artist wants to tell us something about our everyday rat race - you know the nine to five thing most of the people do every day to get money and to become stressed out. The green grass stands for the hope the rat has to find something to eat without getting wet or be poisened of the foam on the water.

rice for everyone

These are the rice fields! And we took the photo from far far away so that the grass in front of the rice teraces looks like rice but isn't actually rice. From above you would have the chance to see some dying rice plants, which we thought could stand in contrast to the aim of the art work. But nevertheless, it has it's irritating effect! And it was even more irritating to see the cellphone of a girl falling into the dying rice plants - is technology murdering plants?

bug art

Yesterday there was a midnight shopping event at the city centre of Kassel where I shot this photo. As there is art everywhere around here (because of documenta 12 or documenta IIIIIIIIIIII as they call it), I think this bug, which came flying above our heads just to drop down from the sky, is a trained beetle.
The artist who trained the beetle to fly right into the crowd of people has even painted it's shell, as you can see. For me, I didn't even know, that there are beetles living here as big as this one!
The intention of the artist might be some kind of protest against the midnight shopping event and with it support for the shop assistants who had to work until midnight.

Signor Ai Weiwei - mi dispiace

Perhaps you can't see it on the picture, but this is the destroyed piece of art which Mr. Ai Weiwei has built for the documentan 12. Unfortunately I couldn't go nearer because of the water you see on the right of the picture and I had forgotten to take a boat with me to the world's most important art show of contemporary art.
